1) What is Telematics?

Telematics is a method of monitoring an asset (car, truck, heavy equipment, or even ship) by using GPS and onboard diagnostics to record movements on a computerized map. It uses GPS and mobile devices to send and receive information that helps control remote objects, primarily in the automotive industry.

2) What is telematics devices?

A telematics device is an instrument, usually provided by your insurance company, that you install into your car. It records information about your driving behavior, including how fast you drive, how fast you brake, and the distance you drive.

7) Please explain the functions of Data Link Layer?

The data link layer is the second layer in the OSI Model. It is responsible for moving from one hop (node) to the next.

The main responsibilities or functions of the data link layer include the following:

  • Framing: The data link layer divides the stream of bits received from the network layer into manageable data units called frames.
  • Physical Addressing: If frames are to be distributed to different systems on the network, the data link layer adds a header to the frame to define the sender and/or receiver of the frame.
  • Flow Control: The data rate must be constant on both sides else the data may get corrupted.
  • Error control: Error control is normally achieved through a trailer added to the end of the frame and to detect and retransmit damaged or lost frames.
  • Access control: When two or more devices are connected to the same link, data link layer protocols are necessary to determine which device has control over the link at any given time.

8) What is a Communication system?

The communication system is a system that describes the information exchange between two points. The major elements of communication are the Transmitter of information, Channel or medium of communication, and the Receiver of information.

9) What are the different types of hashing techniques you know?

Middle-square hashing method, multiplication hashing method, and Fibonacci hashing method, Digit rearrangement method, Radix transformation method, and Folding method are some Hashing methods or techniques.

10) What is Sliding window protocol?

Sliding window protocols are data link layer protocols for reliable and sequential delivery of data frames. In sliding window protocol, multiple frames are sent by the sender at a time before needing an acknowledgment.

11) What is Ethernet?

Ethernet is a family of computer networking technologies commonly used in local area networks, metropolitan area networks and wide area networks. It was commercially introduced in 1980 and first standardized in 1983 as IEEE 802.3.

12) What is dynamic memory allocation in OS?

Dynamic memory allocation refers to managing system memory at runtime. In OS DMA(Dynamic memory allocation) is used to allocate a block of memory to program at runtime.
